Tem razão, há um ERRO no slide 5. O correto, que está na página 280 do PNA é 2,5 vezes o calado.

“(a) In water depth 2.5 times ship draft, 90 to 95 percent (that is, roughly 5 to 10 percent increase in turning diameter)”

O slide 6 está correto, e representa uma situação intermediária entre as citadas no slide anterior.

Na questão do slide 41, voce está correto também, o termo original do livro é “handling” , e não “maneuvering”. Da forma como foi traduzido ficou confuso e contraditório. Vamos corrigir traduzindo “handling” como “conduzindo”.

Veja abaixo o texto original da pg 287 :

“If the handling qualities of a ship are so poor that it is impossible to negotiate restricted waterways, Moody (1964) suggests that a practical solution is to attach a tugboat to the stern of the ship by towline. With the tugboat holding back on the stern, the ship’s propeller slipstream velocity is increased, thus improving rudder effectiveness. Furthermore, the towline tension at the stern of the ship improves the stability of the ship, thus reducing the rudder action needed to maintain a straight course.”
