For three different tankers Fig. 112 indicates bands of critical speeds in knots plotted against the ratio of the cross-sectional area of the canal to the midship section area of the ship. The graph shows that the higher this ratio, the higher the critical speed. Above and below the critical speed band, maneuverability of the single-screw models was satisfactory. pg 287
